General Requirements

Language

The official abstract language is English.

Word Limit

The text should be not more than 400 words in total across all sections.

Text Only

Diagrams, tables and pictures should not appear in abstracts. Only text is permitted.

Anonymous Review

Abstracts are judged anonymously. The text must not reveal institutional affiliations or researcher names.

Text Formatting

Do not write all the text in CAPITAL LETTERS. Use standard capitalization rules.

Abbreviations

Title and text should be free from abbreviations, except those commonly used. Concisely address the problem and purpose.

Title Requirements: Minimum 3 words / no maximum word limit.

Keywords: Minimum 3 / maximum 7 keywords. Choose terms so that peers can easily identify your abstract in electronic search engines.

Abstract Text: Maximum 400 words in total. All 4 structured sections (Objectives, Materials & Methods, Results, Conclusion) are mandatory.

The Circle of Cleft Professionals (CoCP) Award — €1,500

About the Award

The CoCP Award recognizes research with strong potential to advance Comprehensive Cleft Care (CCC) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Eligibility

The abstract must be accepted for oral presentation at ECPCA 2027.
The first or last author must be based in an LMIC.
To be considered for the award, check the CoCP Award box when you submit your abstract.

Selection Process

The ECPCA Scientific Committee and CoCP Leaders will review eligible abstracts, prepare a shortlist and appoint an adjudication panel. The panel will assess shortlisted presentations on:

The quality and relevance of the research
How clearly the research is presented
How well the authors handle questions and discussion
How closely it reflects a multidisciplinary, team-based, locally rooted approach to cleft care

The panel's decision is final.
